My Medium Hiatus

I’m Taking A Break, Potentially.

As 2021 comes to an end, I have been thinking about where I am going as a writer. This year I not only self-published my first book, I finally became what I consider a success at blogging. Both successes took a lot of effort and I experienced a lot of failure, but looking back, I have experienced something to be proud of. As Miley Cyrus says, “Ain’t about how fast I get there. Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side. It’s the climb.”

Writing on Medium has been a great way to keep up honing my craft, especially during my college courses. I have learned to voice my ideas about things I experience and report on the world’s happening’s more clearly than ever before. However, my true goal as a writer is to produce what I consider creative stories. My favorite format of writing is that of novels, but I have come to experience play-writing and screenwriting.

With all this being said, I am most likely going to take a break from Medium for the month of December. I may write here and there, but I am not sure yet. I am giving myself room to be flexible. I want to work on Radiance Lost’s sequel, and school and Medium have gotten in the way of that.

For those of you whom I’ve met on here and been in decent contact with, such as I. Trudie Palmer and Omy, don’t worry. Medium is a community, and when we writers decide to take a hiatus I think we should be in the habit of letting our fellow readers and writers know. Community is fostered by communication.

So here I am, saying a temporary goodbye. I will be reading and watching, and maybe, just maybe, writing.
